FIFA announced on Tuesday that Tuan, who also serves on the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) executive committee, will advise FIFA’s Council on the planning and management of major international tournaments including the FIFA World Cup and youth competitions.
Tuan currently holds several key positions in Asian football, including chairman of the AFC Competitions Committee and a member of the organizing committee for the 2023–27 AFC Asian Cup.
He was recently named head of the men’s football tournament at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
Two other VFF officials also received FIFA appointments: general secretary Nguyen Van Phu joined FIFA’s Medical Committee, while deputy general secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha was named to the FIFA Women’s Football Committee.
The appointments underscore Vietnam’s growing influence in international football and provide opportunities for the country to contribute to the sport’s global development.
