Vietnam’s General Phan Van Giang chairs welcome ceremony for Chinese defense minister

Vietnamese Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang on Wednesday morning presided over a welcome ceremony for Chinese Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun and a high-level delegation from the Chinese ministry.

The delegation is in Vietnam to attend the 10th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

The exchange, set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, is being held in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, underscoring ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation and mutual trust along the shared border.

The welcome ceremony was held at Mong Cai International Border Gate.

The ceremony unfolded in a dignified atmosphere, marked by a warm and enthusiastic welcome from local residents and students.

Following the ceremony and a visit to the border marker, the two ministers planted a friendship tree at the border gate, symbolizing their shared commitment to preserving and promoting the long-standing solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and China.

Both ministers were set to take part in a series of activities in Quang Ninh, including the groundbreaking ceremony for a friendship medical station project in Hai Son Commune, visits to Tran Phu High School and Tra Co Border Guard Station, as well as bilateral talks.
