The provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced on Thursday that these areas fall within the security and safety protection zone of the Cam Ranh military base, where tourism development has been prohibited since 2015.
The ban was reaffirmed in the prime minister’s Decision No. 04 dated September 30, 2025.
Travel agencies must immediately review and terminate all activities related to these restricted areas.
They are also prohibited from advertising or selling tours to Binh Ba and Binh Hung in any form.
The Khanh Hoa Tourism Association and local travel groups are tasked with informing members and ensuring compliance.
The Nam Cam Ranh administration has been instructed to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations.
Despite the ban being in place for years, the tourism department said social media platforms have recently seen a resurgence of posts and videos promoting Binh Ba and Binh Hung as attractive destinations known for their pristine beaches and natural beauty.
Small-scale tour operators and independent travelers have continued organizing visits through social media channels and websites, allowing unauthorized tourism activities to persist.
Since 2024, local authorities have coordinated with relevant agencies to remove online promotional content about Binh Ba and Binh Hung.
However, illegal tour promotion and organization have continued, prompting renewed enforcement efforts.
Binh Ba Island lies about 60 kilometers south of Nha Trang, covering roughly three square kilometers with pristine beaches.
Binh Hung Island is located just one kilometer from the mainland and is one of the four famous islands in Cam Ranh Bay, which includes Binh Ba, Binh Hung, Binh Lap, and Binh Tien.
