In a meeting with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, To Lam conveyed warm greetings from Vietnam’s senior leaders and praised Xi’s recent state visit to Vietnam as a major milestone in bilateral relations.

He affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to implement high-level agreements, proposing deeper cooperation in areas such as railway connectivity, digital transformation, and technology transfer.

He also called on China to increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural and seafood products.

The top Vietnamese leader requested that both sides manage and resolve maritime issues constructively, so as to bolster the growth of each nation and bilateral ties.

President Xi thanked Vietnam for the warm reception during his recent visit in mid-April.

He reiterated China’s priority in strengthening its comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam and the Vietnam-China community with a shared future, considering it a priority in China's neighborhood diplomacy.

He emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of high-level agreements, deepen political trust, and improve the quality and efficiency of cooperation across various sectors.

During talks with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel, To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering support for Cuba and opposition to unilateral sanctions.

He expressed his thanks to Cuba for sending a high-ranking delegation led by Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa to attend the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of southern Vietnam and National Reunification on April 30.

He emphasized the importance of fulfilling high-level commitments and expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, food and energy security.

President Díaz-Canel expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s longstanding support and committed to enhancing bilateral investment, especially in agriculture to ensure food security.

During his meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, To Lam emphasized Vietnam’s readiness to serve as a bridge to strengthen Uzbekistan’s ties with other Southeast Asian countries.

The Party chief proposed that Uzbekistan support Vietnam in expanding its relations with Central Asian nations and boosting inter-regional connectivity.

President Mirziyoyev welcomed the initiative and proposed accelerating oil and gas, education, and transportation partnerships, as well as opening more direct flights.

Both sides agreed to convene the eighth session of the Vietnam-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation this year.

They also pledged to support mutual participation in multilateral forums and foster deeper cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

On Thursday, ahead of the Victory Day parade, To Lam also held bilateral discussions with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
