Vietnam’s Party chief sends congratulations to Kim Jong Un on re-election

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Secretary Lam congratulated Kim on his continued leadership role, expressing confidence that under his guidance, the WPK and the people of North Korea would achieve further success in nation-building.

Lam affirmed Vietnam’s desire and readiness to strengthen cooperation between the two Parties and countries, pledging to work together to develop relations in a substantive and effective manner.

The Congress of the WPK opened on February 19 with 5,000 delegates in attendance.

North Korea’s state media, KCNA, reported that North Korea acknowledged Kim’s contributions to enhancing the country’s international standing, creating favorable conditions for the revolutionary cause, and building a strong and elite military.

The congress also elected new members to the WPK Central Committee and approved amendments to the WPK Rules.
