Tran Thanh Vu, deputy director of the provincial Department of Construction, said that the department is working closely with relevant agencies and Rach Gia Ward to crack down on ticket scalping and overcharging that could affect tourists.
Efforts are also focused on avoiding congestion and maintaining public order at ferry terminals connecting Rach Gia and Ha Tien with Phu Quoc Island in order not to disrupt visitors’ holiday itineraries.
Under the Labor Code, public employees are entitled to two days off for the Reunification Day and International Workers’ Day holiday.
The two official days off fall on Thursday and Friday. Combined with the weekend, workers will have a four-day break from April 30 to May 3.
Bui Quoc Thai, director of the An Giang Department of Tourism, said the department had written to the leaders of communes, wards, and the special zone, urging them to strengthen oversight of tourism-based businesses and ask these firms to adhere strictly to listed prices and avoid overcharging.
“Any deliberate acts of price gouging will be handled firmly to maintain a safe and friendly destination,” Thai emphasized.
Phu Quoc is actively encouraging restaurants and eateries to maintain transparent pricing while reinforcing security and public order standards to boost its reputation as a safe and appealing destination, said Tran Minh Khoa, chairman of the Phu Quoc Special Zone People’s Committee.
Major entertainment sites such as VinWonders Phu Quoc, Grand World Phu Quoc, Sunset Town, the Kiss Bridge, and the Hon Thom Cable Car have been decorated with vibrant displays designed to create memorable experiences and photo opportunities to draw visitors.
Nguyen Dac Tuan Anh, general manager of the VinWonders Phu Quoc, said the theme park will treat visitors to various immersive activities during the holiday, including large-scale 3D mapping shows featuring the Vietnamese flag projected vividly onto water screens, and interactive experiences such as flag painting.
Promotional programs are on offer at several tourist sites in Phu Quoc Special Zone.
Visitors from Mekong Delta provinces traveling to VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc, and Grand World Phu Quoc can benefit from discounted tickets and dining vouchers worth up to VND250,000 (US$9.5).
These offers are valid until May 25.
Nguyen Minh Tam, director of a local speedboat tour company, said all tours for the holiday period have already been fully booked, with a surge in domestic travelers heading to the island.
Despite the demand, the operator is maintaining stable pricing.
A representative from Phu Quoc International Airport estimated that the number of daily flights would reach between 118 and 130 during the holiday, serving some 22,000 local and international passengers.
Meanwhile, high-speed boat services from the mainland are expected to increase frequency while ticket prices are kept steady.
