Under Decision No.1186 recently signed by PM Chinh, the National Steering Committee was officially established to execute Resolution 68, which outlines key strategies for fostering a dynamic, efficient, and globally integrated private economy in Vietnam.
PM Chinh will serve as the head of the committee, whose deputies include Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang.
The committee includes senior representatives from the Central Economic Commission, the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee, and deputy ministers from various key ministries, including National Defense, Public Security, Finance, Justice, Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology, Education and Training, Construction, Home Affairs, and Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Leaders from the Government Office, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Government Inspectorate, and chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, Hue, and Hai Phong are also part of the committee.
The business community is represented by Pham Tan Cong, chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Nguyen Van Than, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises; and Truong Gia Binh, head of the Private Sector Development Research Board.
The steering committee’s primary role is to advise the Prime Minister on major cross-sectoral issues related to private sector development, recommend strategic policies, and coordinate implementation across ministries and localities.
The committee will meet quarterly, or on an ad-hoc basis as needed.
In addition to formal meetings, its standing board is responsible for collecting written feedback from members and presenting consolidated recommendations to the Prime Minister for final decision-making.
