According to a plan approved by the provincial People’s Committee on Monday, the province will organize New Year’s Eve art performances and fireworks displays at multiple locations.

Fireworks will be launched simultaneously in the eastern and western urban areas of the province, as well as on Mang Den and Ly Son, offering residents and visitors a variety of festive viewing options.

The two main provincial fireworks displays will take place at Pham Van Dong Square in Cam Thanh Ward, and Square 16/3 in Kon Tum Ward.

Both venues will host the art program titled ‘Quang Ngai Welcomes Spring - Year of the Horse,’ running from 10:00 pm to 11:30 pm on February 16, or the 29th day of the lunar 12th month.

Immediately following the performances, fireworks will light up the sky from 11:30 pm to 11:45 pm.

This marks a change from previous years, when fireworks traditionally began at midnight on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

An official from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said the adjusted schedule was carefully calculated.

After the fireworks conclude at 11:45 pm, New Year greetings from the chairman of the province will be broadcast, followed by wishes from the state president.

Ending the public festivities slightly earlier will allow revellers to return home in time for the sacred New Year’s Eve moment, reuniting with family, preparing traditional offerings, and lighting incense to honor ancestors in keeping with Vietnamese customs, according to the provincial department.

Notably, Mang Den Commune and Ly Son Special Zone have also been approved to organize their own New Year’s Eve fireworks shows.

The provincial administration instructed them to proactively coordinate with the provincial Military Command to carry out the events in compliance with regulations.

The decision has been warmly welcomed by the public, particularly families and young people who choose to travel to the two popular tourist sites during the Lunar New Year holiday rather than stay home.

News that fireworks will be staged on Mang Den and Ly Son on New Year’s Eve has sparked excitement among travel enthusiasts.

“My family is going to Mang Den for Tet this year,” said Ngoc Bich.

“Watching fireworks and welcoming the Lunar New Year there will be a memorable experience for my children."

With its cool highland climate and pristine scenery, Mang Den has become a favored retreat.
