Do Hoang Anh, the second runner up of the Miss Vietnam 2012 pageant, which concluded in August, will represent Vietnam at this year’s Miss Earth, to be held in Manila, Philippines next month.
Before the finals on November 24, contestants have to go through several rounds including talent, evening gowns, and national costume.
In the talent round, the 18-year-old contestant from Vietnam will do a dance piece similar to the one she did at Miss Vietnam 2012.
In the costume rounds, she will wear a bikini designed by Xuan Thu, street clothes and evening gowns by Elise fashions, and an ao dai designed by Calvin Hiep and Minh Quang.
Anh, a 1.69m-tall student at the Hanoi University of Culture, has been praised for her beauty, knowledge and English skills.
Miss Earth, which was first held in the Philippines in 2001, is designed to promote environmental awareness and environmental protection campaigns around the world. The winners will serve as ambassadors to the campaigns.
This year, it has attracted around 80 beauties from all over the world.
Vietnam has previously sent contestants to the pageant, including Ha Anh in 2006, Truc Diem in 2007 and Phan Thi Mo in 2011. Anh won Miss Talent while Diem won Miss Fashion, though Mo didn’t win any prizes.
In 2010, the contest was held in Vietnam. Miss Vietnam World 2010 Luu Thi Diem Huong represented the country and finished in the top 14 and won Best Swimming Suit.
