VinSpeed, a high-speed rail investment and development company under Vingroup, said on Tuesday it had signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation and technology transfer agreement with Germany's Siemens Mobility GmbH.

Under the agreement, Siemens Mobility will design, supply, and integrate trainsets and key systems, including signalling, communications, and power supply, for VinSpeed's projects, while also working on technology transfer and maintenance solutions during operations.

The two companies also signed a framework agreement to supply trains and related systems for the Hanoi-Quang Ninh high-speed rail line and the Ben Thanh-Can Gio line, VinSpeed said.

Siemens Mobility is expected to supply its Velaro Novo trainsets, its latest high-speed model with a design speed of up to 350 km per hour, offering around 30 percent energy savings compared with earlier generations and suited to Vietnam’s varied terrain.

Thanks to a wider car body and an optimized hollow-tube design, Velaro Novo has at least 10 percent higher passenger capacity than previous generations and other high-speed trains on the market, improving passenger experience and boosting revenue per trip for operators.

Pham Thieu Hoa, chief executive of VinSpeed, said the strategic partnership with Siemens Mobility marked an important step in Vietnam’s push to develop modern transport infrastructure and deliver international-standard high-speed rail lines to support socio-economic growth.

Michael Peter, global chief executive of Siemens Mobility GmbH, said working with VinSpeed on Vietnam's first high-speed rail project would deliver energy-efficient operations, enhance passenger experience, and help drive economic, tourism, and industrial growth of the region.

Vingroup invests in 650-ha hot spring urban project

Vingroup on November 17 also broke ground on the My Lam resort urban area and a sports and golf complex in My Lam Ward, Tuyen Quang Province, northern Vietnam.

The project covers nearly 650 hectares and is planned as a high-end resort and healthcare urban complex, anchored by My Lam's hot mineral springs, which meet Japanese onsen standards.

The development is designed to integrate with the natural landscape and connect with key transport corridors in Vietnam's northeast region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hau A Lenh, Party secretary of Tuyen Quang, said the My Lam resort urban project and the My Lam sports and golf complex would be among the largest developments in the province and would form a 'unique' urban cluster combining residential, healthcare, sports, and leisure functions.

He said provincial authorities would continue to support Vingroup to ensure the projects’ success and help establish the area as a new symbol of Tuyen Quang.
