VinUni is a destination that attracts talented and passionate faculty from universities around the world.

The second phase will be focused on two factors: developing academic infrastructure and research and improving the academic staff to meet international standards, the university said.

Going along with those is the development of five research fields: AI and robotics, medicine and health technology, smart city and environment, big data - high efficiency calculation, and policy and sustainable development.

Vingroup has been committed to investing VND9.3 trillion (US$357 million) in VinUni in this new phase of development.

Of that amount, VND1.5 trillion ($57.6 million) will go toward expanding the campus, including new lecture halls, dormitories, sports facilities, and state-of-the-art laboratories.

The university's enrollment is expected to grow from 1,500 to 5,000 students, with nearly half being postgraduate learners.

Vingroup announced that VinUni will establish an industrial research and innovation complex, where R&D experts from the group's business ecosystem will collaborate with VinUni faculty and students to form co-creation teams.

The focus will be on high-impact applied research, rapid commercialization, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.

Plus, VinUni will partner with leading global universities such as Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania, and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), as well as top institutions in Vietnam, to develop interdisciplinary research clusters aimed at producing high-quality academic publications.

As part of the efforts to elevate academic talent, VinUni has launched the 'VinUni 500' initiative to recruit 500 top-tier scientists and faculty members from around the world, with a particular focus on Vietnamese scholars working abroad.

To attract top scholars, VinUni will offer a benefits package on par with leading global universities, including an annual personal development fund of up to VND150 million ($5,762) and seed funding of up to VND6 billion ($230,503) for outstanding researchers.

Dr. Le Mai Lan, chairwoman of the VinUni University Council, emphasized that VinUni is not just a university, but a vision for nurturing future generations of talent.

"We believe that by attracting exceptional minds to build internal strength, collaborating with both domestic and international scientists, and fully leveraging support from our business ecosystem, VinUni will play a vital role in advancing the nation's strategic goals during this era of growth," Dr. Lan said.
