Spanning nearly four hectares, the center is designed with a total power capacity of 140MW and approximately 10,000 server racks.
Built to meet the Uptime Tier III international standard, the facility has an average power density of 10kW per rack -- 2.5 times higher than Vietnam’s current average -- and a maximum rack capacity of 60kW, enabling support for large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) applications and high-performance computing.
Viettel’s chairman Tao Duc Thang stated that the entire facility would be operated using AI developed in-house by Viettel.
“It will monitor millions of data points in real time, self-learn, and optimize operations. Notably, all cybersecurity, surveillance, and coordination systems are self-developed by Viettel, ensuring full technological sovereignty without third-party dependency,” he emphasized.
Vo Van Hoan, vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, called the project a strategic milestone for both Viettel and the city.
Hoan said it would play a crucial role in advancing digital infrastructure, smart urban development, and e-governance.
“This center will accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI, 5G, cloud computing, Internet of Things, blockchain, cybersecurity, and big data,” Hoan said.
“It will also help foster an innovation ecosystem, enhance digital workforce quality, and create high-value jobs to support the city’s digital economy and society.”
According to Viettel, the project’s first phase is scheduled to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2026, with full completion expected by 2030.
Viettel currently operates 15 data centers across Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and southern Binh Duong Province.
