Vingroup foundation backs $3.5mn elderly care project in Vietnam

The Kind Heart Foundation of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup on Friday broke ground on a major social welfare project in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam, committing VND70 billion (US$2.7 million) toward a VND90-billion ($3.5 million) complex to care for the elderly and social protection beneficiaries.

The remaining VND20 billion ($800,000) will come from the local authorities’ counterpart budget.

The facility will include a three-story main building dedicated to residential care and medical treatment, alongside two additional two-story buildings offering higher-quality care services.

Supporting infrastructure will feature solar power systems, fully equipped living and treatment rooms, internal roads, and green spaces.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Thi Nguyet, vice-chairwoman of the Ha Tinh People’s Committee, praised the long-term commitment of the Kind Heart Foundation to local social welfare.

She said the foundation’s programs have delivered “practical, sustainable, and far-reaching benefits” for communities across the province.

In 2025 alone, the foundation provided nearly VND100 billion ($3.8 million) to help Ha Tinh residents recover from the impact of storm Bualoi, the 10th to hit the East Vietnam Sea this year, along with an additional VND26 billion ($990,000) to rebuild and repair schools and medical facilities damaged by the disaster.

Other initiatives include a livestock microfinance program that has helped more than 13,000 low-income households establish stable livelihoods, and housing support projects that enabled over 2,290 families to secure permanent homes.

“These are deeply humane efforts that arrive when people need them most,” Nguyet said, adding that the elderly care center marks another milestone in the cooperation between Ha Tinh and Vingroup.
