Vietnamese pharma firm director held over 1.2mn fake effervescent tablets

Police in Hanoi have detained Nguyen The Vinh, director of Vintechpharm, a Vietnamese pharmaceutical and cosmetics maker, for allegedly manufacturing and trading more than 1.2 million fake effervescent tablets, a type of dietary supplement, with the preservative sodium benzoate found at up to 33 times the permitted level.
