A Vietnamese 3D cartoon has recently started to draw attention of netizens though it was posted on YouTube one year ago.
Titled “Chiec Cau Xoay” (The Swivel Bridge), the movie tells a story about some animals living in a forest. The main character is a rabbit who always like to harm people with his malicious tricks, but one day he realized his fault after being rescued by his victims.
The video has received positive comments from YouTube users. “I’d like to see more beautiful, cultural and educational cartoons like this. Creators should think about bringing Vietnamese history into movies,” Quoc Thang commented while Manh Hoang Ngo expressed “The expression on the characters’ faces is really vivid. The cartoon is not inferior compared to many other local 2D and 3D animated works.”
The movie was made by 9 members of the Bamboo Animation Company in 6 months. “We want to develop the 3D animation industry in Vietnam,” Nguyen Tan Hung, head of the company expressed.
Though the company has been dissolved since the cartoon industry in Vietnam is too young compared with other countries while local TV stations as well as film distributors don’t dare to invest much into 3D, Hung still keeps the faith and desire to make more animated movies with the theme of Vietnamese culture and history.
“Vietnamese children are overwhelmed by foreign cartoons and know other countries’ cultures better than our own,” he stated.
Also, Hung expressed his hope of having professional training schools in Vietnam to brighten the future of Vietnamese 3D animation. “The industry needs support from the government and local TV channels,” he added.
