Woman fined for driving against traffic, refusing to yield in Ho Chi Minh City

Police in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday issued an administrative violation report against a 47-year-old woman who was filmed driving a car against traffic and refusing to yield in Binh Duong Ward.

She faces a fine of between VND4 million (US$151) and VND6 million ($227), along with a deduction of four points from her 12-point driver's license, authorities said.

According to the city's traffic police, a video widely shared on social media showed the vehicle traveling in the wrong lane and refusing to give way, despite being clearly in violation.

The incident occurred at around 3:50 on Monday afternoon on DT742 Street in Binh Duong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

After receiving the footage from a local resident, traffic police identified the vehicle and summoned the driver for questioning. 

They confirmed that the woman, identified by initials N.T.N.N. and residing in Phu An Ward, had broken traffic laws by operating her vehicle in the wrong lane.

Traffic police emphasized that any violations reported by the public through images or videos will be promptly investigated and dealt with according to the law.
