Covering nearly 198 hectares, the development is planned as an urban technology complex.

Its core zone, spanning more than 104 hectares, will be dedicated to high-tech software and hardware production.

The developer, Van Xuan Digital Technology Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Saigon Real Estate Group, said the project will also include a 16-hectare residential area for experts, a seven-hectare financial and commercial center, and more than 22 hectares of landscaped green space designed to meet net-zero sustainability standards.

The project is expected to attract tech giants in key sectors, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, unmanned aerial vehicles, and Internet of Things devices.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung emphasized the project’s importance in implementing the Politburo's Resolution 57 on advancing science, technology, and national digital transformation.

He expressed hope that the project would create a favorable environment for research, technology transfer, and the development of a highly skilled workforce in Vietnam's northern midlands and mountainous region.

Dung also highlighted Thai Nguyen's advantages for developing the digital economy, citing its strategic location within the greater Hanoi region, improving transport infrastructure, and an increasingly attractive investment climate.

Once fully operational, the Yen Binh complex is expected to contribute 5-10 percent of Thai Nguyen's gross regional domestic product.

During its first five to seven years, the project is anticipated to attract $3-4 billion in secondary investment and create around 20,000 jobs.

The project’s infrastructure is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2028, with full operations beginning in the third quarter of the same year.

In the first half of this year, Thai Nguyen attracted more than $8 billion in foreign direct investment, accounting for 42 percent of Vietnam’s total FDI.
