The project, built on an already prepared site, is expected to be completed within this year.

The project is set to carry a price tag of VND21.8 billion (US$840,125) and comprise a park, a pavilion, restrooms, a recreational and sports area, and a lighting system.

The new park is a commemorative project marking the 135th anniversary of the birth of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025).

Dau An Phuc, director of the management board, said that the park was designed to provide green space, enhance the public green land reserve, and contribute to improving technical infrastructure and urban aesthetics in the area.

The project is part of the southern metropolis' plan to develop public parks and green spaces between 2020 and 2030.

“It is the first park project our unit is implementing,” he said.

He stated that mine clearance on the site had been completed, and both a construction supervision consultant and a contractor for the construction package had been selected.

The project is on track to be completed by the end of 2025.

Nguyen Thanh Phong, vice-chairman of the Cu Chi District People’s Committee, expressed enthusiasm about the district’s first centralized public park.

The district will actively support the investor to ensure the project is completed on schedule, he said.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to achieve a minimum of one square meter of public green space per person by 2030.

To meet this target, the city plans to add 10 more hectares of public green parkland.

For 2025, the city will develop five hectares of public parkland, add two hectares of green space, and plant or rehabilitate 6,000 trees across the city.
