One of Carlsberg’s key plans in Vietnam is a proposed investment of around $65 million in its Phu Bai brewery in Hue between 2026 and 2031.

The investment is expected to focus on modernising production, accelerating digital and green transformation, strengthening supply chain capacity, improving product quality and enhancing food safety standards.

The plan follows the expansion of the Phu Bai brewery, which involved a total investment of nearly $90 million and was inaugurated in August 2025.

Following the expansion, the brewery’s annual production capacity increased by more than 50 percent, making it Carlsberg’s largest brewery in Asia.

In the next phase, the company plans to continue adopting advanced production technologies, developing smart operating models, improving resource efficiency, and increasing the use of renewable energy.

These plans are expected to strengthen Hue’s role in Carlsberg’s regional production network and provide a further foundation for the group’s long-term investment in Vietnam.

Jacob Aarup-Andersen, Carlsberg Group’s chief executive officer, said Vietnam was one of the group’s key growth markets. The group’s confidence in the market was built on more than three decades of presence, investment and commitment to Vietnam.

He said the expansion of the Phu Bai brewery demonstrated Carlsberg’s long-term investment commitment while enabling the company to seize new growth opportunities.

Expanding operations in Da Nang

Alongside Hue, Carlsberg plans to expand its business operations in Da Nang between 2026 and 2031.

The group is expected to focus on commercial development, accelerate digital transformation, modernise operations and build a more efficient and sustainable logistics system.

The company also plans to continue investing in environmental protection initiatives and community development while strengthening cooperation with local authorities and partners.

During a visit to Denmark by Vietnamese leaders, Jacob Aarup-Andersen handed letters of intent on investment commitments to the chairmen of the Hue and Da Nang People’s Committees.

The move reflects Carlsberg’s plans to continue investing, expand its business operations and support the development of both localities.
