Young man filmed catching pigeons in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, sparking outrage

In the short video, the man is seen riding a motorbike with a young woman as a passenger when they stopped near the park in Saigon Ward.

He then got off the bike, approached a flock of pigeons feeding in the area, and caught two birds.

The sudden act startled the flock, sending the pigeons flying in all directions.

The man subsequently left the area, heading from Lam Son Square toward Dong Khoi Street.

Several people, including foreign tourists, witnessed the incident.

A member of the public recorded the scene and later posted the footage on social media.

The video sparked widespread outrage, quickly garnering thousands of shares along with numerous strongly worded comments condemning the incident and calling on authorities to identify the two individuals and take action against them, local media reported.

An official from the Saigon Ward People's Committee told Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper that the pigeons at the park are wild.

No similar incidents of people catching them had previously been recorded, said the official.

The official described the man's actions as inappropriate and said they could negatively affect the city's image and tourism environment.

He also urged residents to raise their awareness and help promote responsible behavior in public spaces in order to prevent such incidents.

The ward authorities will also inspect the case.
