The incident occurred around 7:00 pm at Nguyen Phuong Danh Park in Phong Dien Commune, where high tide had caused extensive flooding.

Initial investigations suggest the children were electrocuted near a park light pole believed to have leaked electricity.

Police identified the victims as N.G.T., born in 2015, and L.H.V., born in 2010.

According to witnesses, N.G.T. was riding his bicycle into the park when he was suddenly electrocuted.

Nearby residents rushed him to the Cai Rang–Phong Dien medical center, but he did not survive.

L.H.V. was also fatally electrocuted shortly afterward when entering the same flooded area, despite warnings from others.

He was pronounced dead at the same medical facility.

Another child, D.N.T., managed to escape the area and survived unharmed.

Can Tho City police said they are coordinating with relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the electrical leak and assess responsibility for the tragedy.
