80kg crocodile captured in Vietnam river after attacking local man

Local officials said the crocodile was safely brought ashore and handed over to relevant agencies for handling in accordance with regulations.

The species of the crocodile has not yet been identified.

On October 8, a young man wading into the Cho River to retrieve a fishing hook caught on a submerged branch was attacked by a crocodile, which bit his arm and leg.

The victim managed to struggle free and was taken to a local health station for first aid. His condition is now stable.

After the incident, the Dien Lam Commune administration deployed local forces to patrol the area and set up traps to capture the animal.

To ensure safety, authorities also broadcast public warnings, urging residents to avoid ponds, lakes, and sections of the Cho River where the crocodile had been spotted and previously attacked a person.
