The Vietnam Stock Exchange has officially announced the schedule for transferring all stocks listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) to the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE).
After the December 23 session, the stocks subject to the transfer will be suspended from trading on December 24 and 25.
From December 28 onward, all listed stocks will be traded on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
During the two-day suspension, stocks already listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange will continue trading as normal.
Other markets operated by the Hanoi Stock Exchange will also continue to operate under current regulations.
The transfer of all listed stocks to a single exchange is part of the Ministry of Finance’s plan to restructure Vietnam’s stock market.
As of the September 30 trading session, the Hanoi Stock Exchange had 299 listed stocks with a combined market capitalization of nearly VND463 trillion (US$17.8 billion).
The Hanoi exchange’s market capitalization was equivalent to 5.4 percent of the more than VND8.5 quadrillion ($327.2 billion) market capitalization of held by 430 stocks on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
KSF of Sunshine Group was the largest stock on the Hanoi exchange by market capitalization at VND68.384 trillion ($2.6 billion), followed by THD of Thaiholdings at VND46.585 trillion ($1.8 billion) and NVB of National Citizen Bank at VND41.822 trillion ($1.6 billion).
Other familiar stocks included in the transfer are PVS, PVI, IDC, HUT, and securities companies MBS and SHS.
Once transferred to the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the stocks will be traded under the southern bourse’s rules.
The daily price fluctuation limit on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange is currently 7 percent, narrower than the 10 percent limit applied on the Hanoi Stock Exchange.
