-- Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday met Kuwaiti Ambassador to Vietnam Yousef Ashour Al-Sabbagh in Hanoi and called for stronger strategic partnership and cooperation in energy security.

Society

-- Authorities in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Saturday approved an investment plan worth nearly VND700 billion (US$26.6 million) from the city budget to expand and build the second phase of the Son Tra regional medical center in An Hai Ward.

-- Seawater at several beaches in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City turned unusual green and purple hues on Saturday, likely due to microalgae, according to local residents.

-- Southern Vietnam is expected to see rising temperatures of 32-35 degrees Celsius, with some southeastern areas reaching 36-39 degrees, along with increasing rainfall and 6-12 rainy days in April as the region approaches the seasonal transition, the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center said.

Economy

-- Vietnam’s average monthly income rose to VND9 million ($341.7), up 3.8 percent from the previous quarter and 8.5 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2026, according to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.

-- The National Statistics Office said in its 2025 Spatial Cost of Living Index (SCOLI) report that Hanoi ranked as the most expensive among 34 Vietnamese provinces and cities in terms of daily consumer goods and service costs.

-- Vietnam’s fuel importers purchased about 3.2 million cubic meters of petroleum products in March, which together with existing inventories will ensure domestic supply through the end of April, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said at a government press briefing on Saturday.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- A total of 58 hospitals and health centers across Ho Chi Minh City provides free specialist screening and check-ups to residents in 64 wards and communes on Sunday in response to Vietnam’s Public Health Day on April 7.
