-- Storm Kajiki, the fifth tropical storm to enter the East Vietnam Sea this year, was packing sustained winds of up to 166 kph early on Monday, with gusts reaching 202 kph. The storm’s center was located about 200 km off the coasts of Ha Tinh and Nghe An Provinces and is expected to make landfall between Thanh Hoa Province and the north of Quang Tri Province later in the day. Authorities evacuated thousands of residents overnight and urged people to stay indoors ahead of potential flooding and high winds.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday chaired a conference in Nghe An Province to coordinate emergency preparations as authorities braced for the potential impact of storm Kajiki.

-- Authorities in Khanh Hoa are investigating mass fish deaths and damaged coral discovered by divers near Hon Bac Island in Nha Phu Bay, a local official said on Sunday.

-- Automaker VinFast, a unit of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, announced it will launch the Evo Max, its first electric motorbike model eligible for battery-swapping, in October with an expected price of VND20 million (US$759).
