-- Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast across northern Vietnam today, bringing an end to the recent heatwave, while central provinces continue to endure extreme heat and southern areas are expected to see scattered showers, according to the national weather agency.

-- Five hundred spotted doves have been released into the wild at U Minh Thuong National Park in An Giang Province, southern Vietnam after being rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in Ho Chi Minh City, park authorities said on Thursday.

-- Vietnam and the United States on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to share electronic customs data, aiming to strengthen efforts against trade fraud, counterfeit goods, origin fraud and tax evasion, the Vietnam Department of Customs said.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is calling for international investors to develop a series of mega-urban projects worth nearly US$9 billion, focusing on the northern and eastern gateways of the city.
