-- The Department of Public Security in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam on Thursday announced that traffic police had detected and handled a passenger bus with 42 seaters carrying as many as 63 people, exceeding the legal limit by 21 passengers.

The driver was fined VND31 million (US$1,180), while the vehicle owner got a fine of VND126 million ($4,780).

-- Thirty-seven traffic accidents were recorded in Vietnam on Thursday, the first day of the four-day Reunification Day and International Workers’ Day holiday, leaving 18 people dead and 22 others injured, down 33 cases, 18 fatalities, and 29 injuries compared to the same period last year.
