-- Vietnam’s State Presidency reviewed and decided on the renunciation, acquisition, and restoration of Vietnamese nationality for over 18,000 cases, ensuring compliance with  regulations and the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, according to State President Luong Cuong’s report on the 2021–26 term of the State Presidency presented to the National Assembly on Monday afternoon.

-- The market surveillance agency of Tay Ninh Province in southern Vietnam reported on Monday that it was investigating a case involving 25,745 products across 35 types of goods labeled as originating from Thailand, Cambodia, and China, with no related invoices or documentation.

-- A fire broke out at an apartment in the River Gate building on Ben Van Don Street in Khanh Hoi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City on Monday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of many residents via the stairwell.

-- A team from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department discovered eight plastic crates containing around 500 live red collared doves without any documents proving their legal origin in Tan Son Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City in the wee hours of Monday.

-- Da Nang authorities have assessed that storm Fengshen, the 12th storm to hit the East Vietnam Sea, will bring very heavy rainfall and have advised residents, especially those in mountainous areas, to prepare enough food supplies for several days.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have completed an investigation and recommended the prosecution of four Vietnamese nationals and one South Korean national for allegedly smuggling 250 rubber boots and 405,000 packs of ESSE-branded cigarettes, with a total value of VND10.4 billion (US$394,981).

Economy

-- Singaporean budget carrier Scoot Airlines’ first flight carrying 174 passengers landed at Da Nang International Airport in central Vietnam on Monday afternoon, marking the official launch of its Singapore – Da Nang direct route, with a frequency of three flights per week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

-- As of the end of July, residents' savings deposited in the banking system reached nearly VND7.75 quadrillion ($294.5 billion), according to the State Bank of Vietnam.

Travel

-- Since 2012, Hoi An Ancient Town in Da Nang City, central Vietnam has recorded 17.4 million ticketed visitors, including over 3.3 million domestic tourists and 14 million international visitors. Revenue from the ticket sales has exceeded VND1.9 trillion ($72.1 million), according to a conference held in the city on Monday.
