Society

-- Ho Chi Minh City aims to have around 150-200 Vietnamese books translated and published overseas, while expanding the copyright market to 20-30 countries and territories by 2030.

-- Construction Corporation No. 1 JSC and its partners, in coordination with authorities in Dong Nai City, on Monday held a groundbreaking ceremony for the second component of the Cat Lai Bridge project and the Long Hung Bridge project connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.

-- Ho Chi Minh City plans to pilot three elderly care facilities in Chanh Hung, Vung Tau, and Bac Tan Uyen Wards for six months as the city faces a rapidly aging population, with an estimated 1.57 million people aged 60 and above.

Economy

-- Members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) imported around US$4.25 trillion worth of goods annually in 2025, but Vietnamese products accounted for only about one percent of their markets, highlighting the vast room for export growth, the Vietnam News Agency reported, citing information from a seminar organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Monday.

-- Vietnam currently has 74 companies recognized as priority enterprises, accounting for around 30 percent of the country’s total import-export turnover. In 2025 alone, these companies recorded an import-export turnover of approximately $256.63 billion.

-- Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank has sought shareholders’ approval to establish a wholly owned subsidiary bank at the Vietnam International Financial Center, while also offering shares to raise its charter capital to VND46.8 trillion ($1.8 billion).

-- Vietnam has recognized 499 products from 227 companies as meeting the Vietnam National Brand criteria in its 10th selection in 2026. 

-- Vietnam’s national brand was valued at $462.279 billion in 2026, up 45.14 percent from 2020 and ranking 32nd among 193 countries assessed, according to Brand Finance.

-- South Korea’s HS Hyosung on Tuesday broke ground on a $100 million plant producing BCF yarn and carpets at Tam Thang Industrial Park in Thang Truong commune, Da Nang City, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- The 2026 Vietnam Outstanding Export Products Fair, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and scheduled for October 22-24, aims to serve as an on-site export hub connecting international buyers and global retail groups with Vietnamese manufacturers.
