IELTS teachers can turn their own lessons, short-form videos, and educational initiatives into entries for the contest, which marks the first time the British Council has organized an award specifically for IELTS educators in Vietnam.
IELTS EduCreators 2026 is designed to recognize individuals with teaching expertise who also know how to leverage digital platforms to make knowledge more accessible.
It aims to promote meaningful educational content, encouraging learners to view IELTS not merely as a test score, but as a journey toward developing English proficiency for study, work, and daily life.
According to Samantha Lea Smith, the British Council’s exams country director in Vietnam, when IELTS teachers and educators are recognized, motivated, and given opportunities to maximize their strengths, they can create greater positive value for the community.
She said the award seeks to support teachers in helping more candidates gain confidence on their IELTS journey, thereby expanding opportunities in education, careers, and life.
The award program offers total prizes worth VND320 million (US$12,152).
Three grand prizes, each valued at VND50 million ($1,898), include personalized gift packages and a Grand Prize Winner - IELTS EduCreators 2026 certificate from the British Council.
The program also includes seven Inspiration Awards worth VND10 million ($379) each, along with ten consolation prizes for individuals ranked in the top 20.
In addition, all top 20 candidates selected from round one will receive a free IELTS test slot with the British Council.
The contest consists of three rounds.
In Round 1, running from May 26 to July 5, candidates submit online applications including personal information, social media activities, and an English essay of up to 500 words.
In Round 2, from July 27 to August 30, the top 20 participants will create one or a series of videos based on themes announced by organizers and publish them publicly on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or Threads.
From September 28 to October 4, the top 10 finalists will enter Round 3, presenting personal initiatives and implementation plans before a judging panel.
Content will focus on social media creativity, supporting learners in building comprehensive English capabilities and practical skills throughout their IELTS preparation journey.
Results are expected to be announced on October 29.
According to the British Council, IELTS is currently recognized by more than 13,000 organizations across over 140 countries and territories for study, employment, and migration purposes.
In Vietnam, during the 2026 university admissions season, nearly 100 universities are using IELTS scores in their admission methods as proof of foreign language proficiency.
