Data from a database of trademark registrations in Vietnam shows Changan has applied to register several brands and product names, potentially adding more competition to Vietnam's electric vehicle market.
In early 2025, Changan Automobile signed a cooperation agreement with Kim Long Motor to invest in a plant in Hue City in central Vietnam to manufacture five- to seven-seat passenger cars.
This has raised the possibility that Kim Long Motor could distribute Deepal vehicles in Vietnam and potentially assemble them locally once the plant is operational.
However, Kim Long Motor has yet to officially announce plans involving Deepal or the Changan models it expects to introduce in Vietnam.
Among the registered trademarks, the Deepal S05 and S07 stand out. Both are C-segment SUVs, a segment that has enjoyed relatively strong demand in Vietnam.
The two models are also offered as new-energy vehicles, with both battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain options.

The Deepal S05’s dimensions are comparable to those of the Honda CR-V, while its wheelbase is slightly longer.
The model features a minimalist design with details such as flush door handles and aerodynamically optimized wheels.
The cabin does away with a conventional instrument cluster in favor of an augmented-reality head-up display. A 15.4-inch central touchscreen is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor.
The BEV version uses a rear-mounted electric motor producing 175kW (235 horsepower), paired with a 56.12kWh battery pack.
It has a driving range of 510km. Its 3C fast-charging system can charge the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 15 minutes.
The EREV version uses a 160kW electric motor paired with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that serves as a generator.
It has a 27.28kWh battery, providing an electric-only range of 200km and a total driving range of 1,234km.

The Deepal S07 is larger than the S05.
It features a sportier, more angular design, with frameless doors, flush door handles, and distinctive wing-shaped daytime running lights.
The cabin features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with a smart tilt mechanism, a 14-speaker Sony sound system, and a large panoramic sunroof.
The BEV version is equipped with an electric motor producing up to 192kW (258 horsepower), with two battery options of 66.8kWh and 79.97kWh.
The corresponding driving ranges are 520km and 620km, respectively.
The EREV version uses a 175kW electric motor paired with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that serves as a generator.
It is equipped with a 39.05kWh battery, allowing an electric-only range of 285km and a total driving range of more than 1,100km.
