A still image taken from a clip shows a man riding a motorbike with both hands off the handlebars in Da Nang City, central Vietnam.

The clips have attracted attention on Facebook in recent days, raising concerns about dangerous driving and road safety.

In a 34-second video, the man appears to be travelling at a relatively high speed while letting both legs hang to one side and taking both hands off the handlebars.

As he rides, he repeatedly waves his arms, sways his head and performs movements resembling a dance.

The motorcyclist also turns back to speak to a person filming him from a vehicle following behind.

When the person recording the video makes sarcastic remarks of encouragement and challenges him to repeat the performance, the man readily complies.

He again performs dance-like movements, placing his legs on the motorbike’s seat and swaying his body while continuing to ride.

Some social media accounts have claimed that the footage was filmed in Da Nang’s Tam Ky.

However, observations by Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper reporters suggest that the location is a section of National Highway 1 running through Chien Dan Commune.

The video shows the motorcyclist passing the Chien Dan Market Town project, which is situated alongside the highway.

A second clip, lasting 20 seconds and apparently filmed by a passenger on a passenger bus, shows the same motorcyclist riding with both legs positioned to one side and both hands off the handlebars.

At one point, he raises both hands in a greeting towards the person filming him before continuing to wave his arms, move his legs and sway his head.

According to Tuoi Tre’s observations, the second video was filmed on National Highway 1 in An Tho Village, Tay Ho Commune.

An officer of the traffic police division under the Da Nang City Department of Public Security said on Monday morning that the unit had received reports about the incident and assigned officers to verify the information.
