Tokyo topped Agoda’s newly released ranking. Bangkok, Bali, Seoul and Osaka took the next four spots, respectively.

The Vietnamese coastal city ranked ahead of several well-known destinations in the region, including Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei and Johor Bahru.

Da Nang not only made the top 10 in Asia but also recorded the highest rate of returning international visitors in Vietnam in the first half of 2026.

According to Agoda, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi and Phu Quoc followed Da Nang.

Agoda said Da Nang’s transport infrastructure, convenient access and diverse range of services and entertainment options were among the factors contributing to its appeal.

In addition to beaches and resorts, the city offers a range of destinations centered on nature, culture, cuisine and heritage. This diversity gives visitors opportunities to enjoy different experiences on subsequent trips.

At the national level, Vietnam ranked third among Asian destinations for the rate of returning international visitors in the first half of 2026, behind Japan and Thailand.

Malaysia and Indonesia ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

Agoda said the rate of returning visitors is one indicator of a destination’s appeal and its ability to maintain its attractiveness to international travelers.

Da Nang frequently ranks among the destinations in Vietnam attracting the most interest from international travelers.

The latest result further highlights Da Nang’s position on the regional tourism map, not only for its ability to attract first-time visitors but also for encouraging them to return.

Statistics from Da Nang City showed that in January-August 2026, the city’s accommodation and food service revenue reached VND46.93 trillion (US$1.78 billion), up 25.1 percent year on year.

Accommodation establishments in the city served more than 14.2 million visitors, up 24.9 percent.
