Long lines of parked vehicles were seen along sidewalks and elevated roads in areas such as 2-3 Street, 30-4 Street, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Le Thanh Nghi, and Y Lan Nguyen Phi Streets, as concerns grew over severe weather conditions.

Storm Fengshen, the 12th storm to enter the East Vietnam Sea this year, is expected to make landfall early on Thursday and bring heavy rain to central Vietnam, intensified by a cold air mass, according to the national weather forecast agency.

“I moved my car to 30-4 Street last night to avoid flooding,” said Hoa, a resident of Hoa Cuong Ward.

“The 2022 floods were bad, so I’m not taking any chances.”

Strong winds and intermittent rain were reported across Da Nang on Wednesday morning.

Gusts on the Thuan Phuoc Bridge, at the mouth of the Han River, made it difficult for motorcyclists to cross.

The Da Nang government has issued an emergency directive ordering departments and local authorities to prepare for flooding, including evacuation plans for high-risk areas.

Residents have been urged to stock food and essential supplies for at least three days.

All evacuation plans must be finalized by 5:00 pm on Wednesday.
