Da Nang’s military command on Friday has tested new rescue equipment ahead of the rainy season, including motorized inflatable boats and drones designed to transport cargo weighing 80 to 120 kilograms.
The equipment was purchased to help rescue teams reach residents in areas affected by floods and landslides, which have become increasingly challenging for emergency responders in recent years.
During the trials, personnel inspected the equipment, checked assembly procedures, and tested the boats and drones in real-world conditions.

The trials aimed to assess the vehicles’ mobility, cargo-carrying capacity, stability, and safety before putting them into service.
The drones are expected to deliver food, drinking water, medicine and other essentials to communities cut off by floods and landslides, where road and waterway access is difficult.
Meanwhile, motorized inflatable boats will help rescue teams reach heavily flooded residential areas, transport personnel and equipment, and evacuate residents from dangerous areas.

Combining watercraft with cargo-carrying drones is expected to expand rescue teams’ reach and help them deliver supplies to affected residents more quickly during natural disasters.
The initiative is part of efforts to modernize civil defense equipment for Da Nang’s armed forces and strengthen their response to increasingly complex floods and other natural disasters.
Previously, Da Nang’s military command also worked with training institutions to train nearly 300 operators of speedboats and other rescue watercraft, increasing the number of personnel available for deployment in flood-prone areas.
