Vice-rector Duong Manh Thang said the program, part of the university's revised curriculum, combines tennis and pickleball training with 24 credits equally divided between the two.
Nearly 20 students have been enrolled in the first class.
"This is the first formal pickleball training program at a sports university in the central and Central Highlands region," Thang said.
"Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, so sports students can pick it up quickly."
The program aims to train teachers, coaches, and sports managers in playing techniques, coaching methods, event organization, and sports management, contributing to the development of the pickleball community and professional competition in Vietnam, he said.
Several lecturers at the university have completed professional training, with some holding international certifications and having organized national pickleball tournaments, Thang added.
Pickleball has gained traction in Vietnam for its accessibility and social appeal.
Da Nang established its pickleball federation in March 2025, and the city's Department of Education and Training has encouraged schools and workplaces to promote the sport among students, officials, and employees.
