Vietnam pickleball sets world attendance record at PPA Tour Asia event in Da Nang

The PPA Tour Asia – MB Vietnam Cup 2025 in Da Nang City, central Vietnam set a new Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a pickleball event, drawing 7,916 spectators on Saturday, organizers said.

The previous record stood at 5,522.

The announcement was made during the closing ceremony at Tien Son Sports Arena by Austin Johnson, an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records.

The recognition was awarded to tournament organizer America & Asia Connect Co. Ltd, the Da Nang Pickleball Federation (DPF), and broadcaster FPT Play.

"This achievement reflects the strong coordination between local authorities, organizers, sponsors, athletes and especially the fans," said DPF president Tran Phuoc Son, who is also standing deputy chairman of the Da Nang People's Council.

Son added that he hopes Da Nang will continue to host larger-scale pickleball events and position itself as a regional sports destination.

This marks the first time Da Nang has hosted a PPA Tour Asia event.

Organizers said it was the largest pickleball tournament in Asia to date, with a total prize pool of US$150,000 and nearly 600 players from Vietnam and abroad competing.

Matches were held over multiple days, drawing large crowds and featuring several of the world's top-ranked players.
