The deceased victims include 12 in Hue City and 11 in Da Nang City.

Authorities said more than 133,000 houses had been flooded during the disaster, with over 22,000 still underwater.

Besides, 91 homes were destroyed or swept away, and 181 others were damaged.

Floods have also devastated agriculture, submerging nearly 4,950 hectares of rice and crops and more than 800 hectares of fruit and perennial trees. Over 22,000 livestock and poultry have died or been swept away.

On the transport network, 80 locations along national highways remain blocked due to flooding and landslides.

Of them, 34 locations are on routes managed by the Ministry of Transport, including 16 points on the Ho Chi Minh Road’s western branch, 15 on the Truong Son Dong route which is expected to reopen on Saturday, and three on the La Son-Hoa Lien Expressway.

Another 46 sections of provincially managed routes, including highways 14B, 14D, 14E, 14H, 14G, 24C, 40B, 15D, 49C, 9B, and 9C, remain impassable.

By midday on Friday, train service between Hue and Da Nang had resumed at reduced speed, restoring normal operations on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City rail line.

In education, the north-central province of Ha Tinh on Friday suspended classes for nearly 37,000 students, while Quang Tri Province allowed more than 28,000 students to stay home due to flooding.

Electricity remains cut off for around 245,000 customers, including 225,000 households in Da Nang alone, as repair teams continue to restore the power grid in affected areas.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, floodwaters on rivers from Hue to Da Nang were receding by Friday afternoon. Water levels on the Huong (Perfume) River in Hue remained above alarm level 2 but were trending downward, while levels on the Bo, Vu Gia, and Thu Bon Rivers had fallen to around or below alarm level 1.

Widespread flooding in Da Nang has gradually eased, while in Hue, waters are continuing to fall slowly.
