Defense ministry deploys 346,000 personnel, 600 specialized vehicles to cope with storm Wipha

Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense has mobilized 346,210 officers and soldiers, more than 5,000 cars, over 600 specialized vehicles, and five aircraft ready to carry out missions in response to typhoon Wipha, which is heading toward the country’s northern coast.

Among the total personnel, the regular army comprises 114,120 members, while the militia accounts for 232,090 individuals.

In terms of support equipment, the ministry has deployed 5,061 cars, 216 ships, 2,295 boats and canoes, 623 specialized vehicles, and five aircraft.

Border guard forces in the provinces from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak have coordinated with local authorities and boat owners to issue updated notices on the typhoon to 54,300 vessels carrying more than 227,000 people at sea, enabling them to actively relocate from danger zones and avoid hazardous areas.

According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, Wipha is approaching the northern region’s coast and is forecast to make landfall between Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa at some point between approximately 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on Tuesday.
