An officer said on Tuesday that the economic police division had recently uncovered and dismantled a large-scale operation involved in the manufacture of fake chili sauce and dipping sauce, posing a potential threat to public health.
During an inspection into the company, headquartered in Phuc Yen Ward, officers discovered and seized over 2,390 bottles of chili sauce and dipping sauce bearing the Ngan Ha brand that showed signs of falsified quality.
Investigators determined that the products had been distributed and consumed at food service establishments, collective kitchens, and food distribution outlets across the area.
Quang admitted that he was directly responsible for overseeing and managing all production and business activities of the company.
In an effort to cut manufacturing costs, Quang instructed employees to purchase cheaper raw materials than those officially registered and declared in accordance with regulations, and to use them in the production of Ngan Ha-branded chili sauce and dipping sauce.
The economic police division sent all seized products for forensic examination.
The Institute of Forensic Science under the Ministry of Public Security concluded that the entire batch of 2,392 products was counterfeit.

Based on the investigation results and collected evidence, the province’s investigators determined that the case showed clear signs of criminal activity, thereby filing legal proceedings against the case and charging Quang with producing and trading counterfeit food and food additives.
