Some representatives of the group of donors on Saturday visited Dak Lak Province to offer encouragement and support to local authorities and residents following recent historic floods.
During a working session with provincial representatives, the group presented financial assistance to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak Province, in the hope of helping affected communities overcome the consequences of the natural disaster and stabilize their lives, reported Dak Lak newspaper.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Pham Van Bay, vice-chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, expressed his sincere appreciation for the timely assistance to local people affected by the floods.
He also expected the community of foreigners and overseas Vietnamese to continue accompanying and supporting the province’s future social welfare efforts.
Prior to the donation, members of the group conducted on-site surveys in severely affected areas, documenting cases of significant damage caused by the floods.
Based on their assessments, the group agreed on a targeted allocation plan to ensure the funds reach the right beneficiaries and address the most urgent needs.
Under the plan, 15 households whose homes were heavily damaged will receive VND20 million ($760) each, while VND200 million ($7,600) will be allocated to households that lost their homes and family members.
Households that suffered the loss of loved ones will receive VND90 million ($3,415) in support.
On November 19 and 20, the historic floods claimed 63 lives, destroyed over 100 houses, and inundated thousands of homes, causing total damage of nearly VND5.5 trillion ($209 million) in Dak Lak Province, reported local media.
