The T3 domestic passenger terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, with an investment capital of VND11 trillion (US$426 million), commenced trial operations on Thursday with the first commercial flight by Vietnam Airlines.

The new terminal is slated to officially open on Saturday.

T3 is expected to accommodate 20 million domestic passengers annually, easing congestion at the T1 terminal, which has been operating at nearly 1.7 times its designed capacity.
