The Gong Festival and Chu Dang Ya Volcano - Wild Sunflower Week, held from October 30 to November 8 in Bien Ho Commune and Pleiku Ward, aims to showcase the cultural heritage of the Central Highlands while promoting tourism during the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Trinh Van Sang, chairman of Bien Ho Commune’s administration, highlighted the area's natural and cultural attractions, including the iconic freshwater lake Bien Ho, the Chu Dang Ya volcano, rolling tea hills, century-old pine forests, and traditional ethnic villages.

Organizers said the annual event is held at the foot of the extinct Chu Dang Ya volcano and serves as a platform to promote the cultural identity of ethnic minority communities and the UNESCO-recognized gong culture space of the Central Highlands.
Visitors can also enjoy exhibitions of products under Vietnam’s One Commune One Product program, a coffee cultural space, sports activities and folk games.

Hoang Van Vu and his wife, visitors from Hanoi, admire Chu Dang Ya Volcano. Vu said: “The trip has been truly meaningful. I am very happy to be here in person and see the wild sunflowers in full bloom. I hope to have a chance to return to Gia Lai around this time next year to explore more scenic attractions and enjoy local dishes.” Photo: Le Kien
