Around 3:45 pm, residents in Quy Chau Commune reported hearing loud thuds on rooftops as hailstones fell for nearly 10 minutes.
Many stones were as large as a toe, forcing people to stay indoors.
Local resident Luong Nga said the hail was short-lived and not severe enough to cause major property damage in her area.

However, hail and whirlwinds are common in western Nghe An’s mountainous communes during the transitional season from March to May, often damaging houses, crops, and trees.
Past hailstorms recorded in March and April of 2024 and 2025 were more intense, with larger stones that tore roofs off homes and destroyed crops in the province.
