Upon inspection, border guards found dozens of large sacks stacked in the trailer bed, resembling rice bags at first glance.
However, further examinations revealed that each sack was filled with methamphetamine.
The seized narcotics weighed some 500 kilograms, the largest volume of drugs ever confiscated by law enforcement in the province.
Previously, the record stood at 300 kilograms.
Two Laotian nationals believed to be responsible for the shipment were arrested.
Their identities have not been disclosed as investigations continue.
