According to a Hanoi Department of Tourism report released on Friday, 2.8 million tourists arrived in the Vietnamese capital in July alone, with nearly 20 percent being international visitors, contributing VND10.68 trillion ($408 million) in revenue.
Of the total visitors in the first seven months, over 4.2 million were international tourists, with 2.97 million staying overnight.
Hanoi currently has 3,761 accommodation establishments offering 71,200 rooms, including 85 hotels and serviced apartment complexes rated from one to five stars.
The city is expected to attract even more tourists in August and September as it prepares for the country’s major celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
The celebrations will feature a large-scale military parade and procession, along with fireworks displays at five locations including Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh National Stadium, and West Lake.
According to Booking.com, one of the world’s leading digital travel companies, Hanoi is the most searched domestic destination by Vietnamese travelers for the upcoming National Day holiday from August 29 to September 3.
The Vietnamese capital appeals to a wide range of travelers like families, groups of friends, couples, and solo tourists, with its blend of vibrant energy and rich cultural heritage.
