Between 6:00 am and midnight daily during the period, restrictions apply on Ly Son, Truong Sa, and Hoang Sa Streets.
Trucks carrying over 3.5 metric tons of goods and passenger vehicles with more than 29 seats are banned, except for buses, garbage trucks, emergency vehicles, police, and military vehicles.
Smaller trucks, passenger cars, and motorbikes will also face partial restrictions.
To ease congestion, traffic from northern localities such as Hai Phong and Bac Ninh heading toward Phu Tho and Thai Nguyen Provinces is directed through the Thanh Tri Bridge, Ring Road No. 3, Vo Van Kiet Street, or the Hanoi-Bac Giang Expressway.
Vehicles from National Highway No. 3 and Noi Bai International Airport are also given alternative routes.
Police urged drivers to comply with traffic laws and follow on-site guidance to ensure smooth flow during the exhibition period.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh approved the extension of the exhibition to September 15 to give more residents and visitors the opportunity to explore Vietnam’s 80-year journey of development.
Titled '80 Years of Independence, Freedom, Happiness,' the exhibition was originally scheduled to close on September 5.
Since its opening on August 28 at the Vietnam Exposition Center, the event has become a centerpiece of national celebrations, drawing massive crowds, especially during the National Day holiday from August 30 to September 2.
