According to Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper reporters on Tuesday, heavy rain has persisted in southern parts of Da Nang, with several mountainous areas showing signs of potential landslides.

Rainfall between 7:00 and 8:30 am, coinciding with the morning school and work commute, caused some difficulties for traffic.

In mountainous areas including Tra My and Hung Son Communes, it has heavily rained over the past two days.

Authorities evacuated 40 households, or 133 people, in Gari Village, Hung Son Commune, after detecting large cracks on a hillside, raising concerns about possible landslides.

According to a 9:00 am bulletin from the Central Region Hydro-Meteorological Station on Tuesday, Da Nang experienced rain ranging from light to heavy, with thunderstorms in some areas over the previous 24 hours.

Rainfall from 7:00 am on Monday to 7:00 am on Tuesday generally ranged from 10 to 70 mm, with higher amounts recorded at Xuan Binh at 133.8 mm, Tam Ky at 87.8 mm, and Tra My at 95.4 mm.

Scattered showers and moderate rain are forecast across Da Nang during the day and night on Tuesday.

Southern parts of the city are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall totals generally ranging from 70 to 150 mm and exceeding 250 mm in some places.

The weather agency has placed the risk level for heavy rain at Level 1 and warned of possible flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, as well as flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.

Thunderstorms could also bring tornadoes, lightning, and strong wind gusts.

Meanwhile, major hydropower reservoirs upstream of Da Nang, including Song Tranh, A Vuong, Dak Mi 4 and Song Bung 4, have not yet reached full capacity.

As a result, the risk of severe flooding downstream from this spell of rain remains relatively low.
