The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Station said a tropical convergence zone stretching across southern and south-central Vietnam will continue to trigger widespread showers and thunderstorms over the next three days.
Rainfall in some areas may surpass 100 mm in 24 hours.
Morning hours may see brief sunshine, but thunderstorms will intensify by midday and persist into the evening.
The heaviest rain is forecast for southeastern provinces, coastal areas of southern Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.
Daytime highs will range between 29-32 degrees Celsius, with some places slightly higher.
Nighttime lows will fall between 23-26 degrees Celsius.
Authorities cautioned that thunderstorms may bring strong winds, lightning, and localized flooding in low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage.
The National Hydro-Meteorological Center also warned that from Monday afternoon through Tuesday night, Lam Dong and southern Vietnam could receive 60-130 mm of rain, with some areas seeing more than 200 mm.
Some locations could experience rainfall exceeding 100 mm in three hours.
On Sunday, several areas in southern Vietnam and Lam Dong recorded more than 100 mm of rain.
Among them, Rach Gia in An Giang Province recorded over 123 mm, Phan Lam in Lam Dong received nearly 120 mm, and My Xuan in Ho Chi Minh City saw 117 mm of rainfall.
