According to observations by Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper the same day, Rach Cung Street, which leads to Phu Dinh Ferry Terminal on the Binh Dong Ward side, was inundated as a result of the high tide.

The riverside area is frequently affected when tides rise.

Nguyen Thi Biec, a resident of Binh Dong Ward, shared that high tides occur on roughly 10 days each month, making travel along the road difficult.

Water levels typically begin rising at around 3:00 am, she said.

During the morning rush, when residents head to work and school, the tidal water makes it hard for traveling.

“When the tide reaches its peak, the water level rises very high,” she said.

“In the morning, almost no one dares to ride through. Only occasionally does someone try to get across.”

Residents have become accustomed to roads flooding during high-tide periods, but the recurring inundation continues to disrupt daily life, particularly for those who need to travel through the area to reach the ferry terminal.

Also, shops and households along Rach Cung Street are largely unable to operate when the tide rises, she added.

Duong Van Khiem, who lives along the street, said the road becomes almost deserted whenever the water reaches a high level, leaving his family’s business with virtually no customers.

“When the water rises, no one dares to travel along the street,” he stressed.

“Workers and students have to take detours to reach Phu Dinh Ferry Terminal and cross to the other side.”

At 6:00 am, high tides caused water to spill onto several streets in Binh Thanh Ward, affecting local traffic.

Some sections of Binh Quoi Street were flooded, forcing commuters to slow down considerably.

Workers and students were seen rolling up their trouser legs and raising their feet while riding through the flooded locations to avoid the water.
